..i dunno why, but these guys were fun to look at, they look pretty sharp.. i guess that’s what makes them “royal”..
..or maybe mobsters eyeballing the opposing “family”..
The Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus, syn. Sterna maxima) is a seabird in the tern family Sternidae. This bird has two distinctive subspecies.T. m. maximus breeds on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the southern USA and Mexico into the Caribbean. The slightly smaller T. m. albididorsalis breeds in coastal west Africa.American birds winter south to Peru and Argentina, and African breeders move both north and south from the breeding colonies. An amazing capture to get all the birds posing alike! Fine detail too. Looks great to me.
And just how did you get them to pose like that Rian? At first this image didn’t do much for me. But their pose, and especially your DOF makes it really fun to view. Well done.
Nice DOF. And heading into the wind?? Well done!!
They do seem to have Royal attitude. That is a terrific shot.
To everything – tern, tern, tern. There is a season – tern, tern, tern.
Very nice. Sharp and nice low angle.
haha, gang of four, most escellent, funny shot!!!
Very splendid, good shot!
Wonderful low angle. Looks like the wind is blowing them.
i’ve never seen these birds before – they look so cool. very Hollywood. your take on them makes me think of the tv show Entourage.
To everything, tern, tern, tern.
Ok, couldn’t resist that. I like the angle here, and how the image is divided into 3 sections (out focus, in with subject, and then the great blue of the water).
Very nice shot Rian. I like how they are all facing what I imagine to be the breeze.
The best thus far this “feathered-friend” series – Beautifully framed!
i’ve never seen birds like that before. i like the cool blue of the water in the background.
